Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles following a brief time at the University. She auditioned for the part during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance in 92 performances of the play. The actor was invited to join Stratford's conservatory course, in which the top eight men and four females are selected for a course lasting 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she gladly accepted. The role was secured for Contractor during the upcoming series of plays She was also offered Hermia's role for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
